Getting To Know Your Doctor.

Dr. Guarda graduated from Monmouth College, New Jersey in 1990. She received her Doctorate in Medicine from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 1994. This was followed by training in General Surgery at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. She completed her Plastic and Reconstructive training at Louisiana State University in New Orleans in 2001, which also included an additional fellowship in microsurgery emphasizing breast reconstruction using the DIEP flap (Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforator Flap).

Certification and Appointments:

Dr. Guarda became a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon after successfully completing written and oral examinations in 2002.

Dr. Guarda has privileges at Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, Harbourview Center for Excellence in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Chesapeake General Hospital, Ambulatory Surgery Center at Chesapeake and Obici Hospital in Suffolk.

Publications and Presentations:
Dr. Guarda has long had a special interest in breast surgery. She has given numerous presentations on reconstructive breast surgery to the Louisiana State Medical Society, Southern Medical Association and internationally at the Third International Perforator Course in Munich, Germany. She has also given several lectures on DIEP breast reconstruction at local hospitals and support groups.

Family:
Dr. Guarda and her husband and young daughter moved to Tidewater in 2001. Spare time is spent on family activities and being mom.
